How CV Salon Started: From a Small Parlour in 1990 to Jabalpur's Most Trusted Salon

By Krati KhatriFounder, CV Salon Jabalpur

People often ask me when did CV Salon really start. The answer is a little longer than most expect.

The story starts in 1990. Not as CV Salon. As Kashish Beauty Parlour. A small space in Jabalpur where I started doing basic beauty services for women in the neighbourhood. There was no grand plan at the time. Just a genuine belief that every woman deserved to feel good, and that a clean, professional, women-only space for beauty services was something Jabalpur needed.

For years, Kashish ran as a neighbourhood parlour. Good work, loyal clients, slow and steady growth. The kind of business that does not make headlines but builds real trust, client by client.

When Everything Changed

In 2017, my daughter Priyansh and her partner Vinnie joined the business. They had both trained seriously in beauty and makeup and had a very different vision for what the salon could become.

What they brought was not just technical skill. They brought energy, a sense of design, an understanding of what modern clients want, and a hunger to push the salon to a completely different level.

This is not something every family business goes through smoothly. Change always creates friction. But the vision was clear. Upgrade everything. International brands. Proper training systems. A space that does not feel like a neighbourhood parlour but like a premium destination.

By 2018, we had rebranded fully to CV Salon. The name comes from Chinnie and Vinnie.

What It Took to Build This

The infrastructure we have today did not happen overnight. Two full branches, 26 hair chairs, 16 beauty cabins, a dedicated nail section, multiple waxing rooms, a makeup studio. Wheelchair accessible with lifts. Valet parking at both locations.

People look at a salon and assume it runs itself once you set it up. The reality is that building this took years of daily decisions. Which brands to stock. Which staff to train and keep. How to maintain quality consistency across two branches. How to handle a bad review without getting defensive. How to keep growing when the competition around you is also growing.

The answer to most of those questions came down to the same thing. Do the work properly. Do not cut corners on products. Train your staff seriously. Treat clients like adults who know what they want.

The IHA Award

In 2021, Priyansh won the Young Entrepreneur Award at the Indian Hairdressing Awards, presented by L'Oréal Professionnel Paris. The ceremony was covered by Vogue India, Cosmopolitan India, and StyleSpeak.

I am not going to pretend this did not matter. It mattered a great deal. Not because of the trophy, but because of what it represented. A salon in Jabalpur, a Tier 2 city, being recognised at the national level alongside the biggest salons in Mumbai and Delhi. It confirmed that the standard we were working toward was real.

Where We Are Now

Today, CV Salon has two branches in Jabalpur, one in Vijay Nagar on MR-4 Road and one in Wright Town on Home Science College Road. Over 30,000 clients have visited us. We have served over 8,000 brides. We have trained the next generation of beauty professionals through CV Academy. Our sister brand Glamishq offers bridal outfit and jewellery rental.

The team is 70 professionals strong. We stock L'Oréal, Schwarzkopf, O3+, Floractive, Moroccanoil, K18, Casmara, Kanpeki and more.

When I started Kashish in 1990, I could not have imagined any of this. But the core of it is the same thing I started with. A women-only space where the work is done properly and clients are treated with genuine care.

That part has not changed.
